"How are things?!"

As we were driving from a funeral to the burial on Saturday, I mentioned to Andy that earlier that morning I had overhead one of his cousins greet one of his aunts at the funeral with "Oh, hello!! How are things!!??" A few things were running through my head, but the one thing that I was really wondering was, "how is she (the aunt) supposed to respond to that?". Should it be "Oh, I'm just fantastic, my brother has just died, and we had to cut our vacation short to rush up here to MN from FL, thanks for asking!"??

So, really, we hadn't seen many of these people since Christmas, and some it had been even longer, but really, when you're at a funeral, should you greet someone with "how are things?!"?

Party all the time!

Our weekend o' fun began Friday evening when Andy and I went to a wine sale at Haskell's. Their website sucks, and the store was way over-packed--pretty sure it was un-safe in case of fire. But we managed to spend $50 nonetheless. From there we went to the mart to get food for the weekends' parties. As we're driving down University, we came upon a Cobra (not the gang, the car) that was driving like a crazy person, so Andy called the cops on them.

Saturday we went out to my mom & dad's house for party #1.

Sunday we had my mom's entire extended family over for a baby shower/Easter/April Birthday party (out of the 23 of us, there are 7 April birthdays!). I was too busy playing hostess, so I didn't get a chance to take any photos, but let me tell you, it was craaaaaaaazy!!

After everyone left, Andy and I, totally wiped out, put the swag bags together. That was a party in itself, let me tell you. From here on out, our house is C*raftstravaganza central. I'm glad the party is over, and now we don't have to worry so much about the house being clean, and focus more on the preparations. T minus 12! days. eeeeekkkkkkk

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas

Andy was singing that song this morning, only one problem--it's APRIL!!!

It's snowing. It's been snowing since late last night. This is absolutely ridiculous and I want my money back--it was 80 just a couple weeks ago, and now it's like 17 and snowy. But ya know, 24 years ago this Friday (Andy is so sick of hearing this story....) my little sister was born during a blizzard in which over a foot of snow fell. And then our niece was born on that same day, only 23 years later, and it was around 70 that day.

Just as long as it shapes up by the 28th.....

A tale of 2 rolls of film

For the past few months I've been carrying around a finished roll of film in my purse with me, in hopes that I'd remember to get it developed. I finally remembered last week when I was at the store, so I dropped it off. Surprisingly, I also remembered to pick it up on my lunch break today. Normally, I would have given it to a co-worker to develop it here at work for me, since we have a mini-lab (and they run at least 3 cycles on it daily to keep it running properly, and would develop it for me for free) but honestly, it had been sooo long since I shot that roll of film that I had no idea what was on it. It could have been anything from fun at the beach to vacation photos, or worst-case-scenario, nudie photos that I'd hate to have my 50-something-grandfather-of-2 co-worker see. He'd probably think I'm some weirdo that takes nudie photos. But I guess I am.

Don't look so shocked.

My dad's company used to process 35mm film on-site and charged very little for developing & printing to its employees, so he'd always take our film in. As you probably know, I was a phototography major in college, so naturally I was taking lots and lots of photographs. During one of my studio photography classes, we had a nude model come in (nothing out of the ordinary for the art department) and we all photographed her for 3 hours. Needless to say, I used many rolls of film in those 3 hours (we were required to shoot a minimum of 18 rolls per semester, and this was an easy opportunity to eat up some of those 18). Anyways, I guess I didn't process all of them myself, because when I went away to Camp Berea for the summer to teach arts & crafts, I left one unprocessed roll home. My dad found it, and being the nice guy he is, took it in to work to get developed. Completely forgetting about my first nudie photoshoot, I told him I had no idea what was on it when he questioned me about that roll of film. You see, it took much longer than the usual day or 2 for those 24 photos to come back from being developed, and my dad was getting anxious (he's a very impatient guy). A couple weeks must have passed, when one day at camp he calls me up, totally pissed off. Whoops! I was wondering what had happened to that last roll of photos I'd taken in class that day months ago.

So you can see why I was so hesitant to give this roll of film to my co-worker to process for me. Turns out I had nothing to worry about. It was photos from my sister's wedding, which was 4 years ago.
