Hot Hot Heat

For the first time in 4560465446543 years we had a hot Memorial Day weekend. For as long as I can remember (and I DO remember--from 7th to 12th grade we marched in 2 parades every Memorial Day) it's been cold, rainy and windy. What a drastic difference this year was--I think we got up to 97 degrees. Thank God for the man that created air conditioning! Although we thought we'd be tough and not turn the a/c on--Saturday night I got up around 2 and it was 87 in the house. I said "that's it! I'm turning you on!" and I did. And it felt great.

So my big plans for getting lots done around the house on a long weekend were cut short with the heat. We DID go to Home Depot on Saturday morning and got lots of fun stuff! Okay, well a bunch of boring, necessary things, and blue paint for the dining room! Now I just need a free Saturday or Sunday to paint it. The paint matches the fabric I bought wonderfully! I'm excited to see it all come together. Now we just need to decide on a shade of brown for the bedroom and we can start putting that one together as well. fun fun fun!

In other news, my sister bought all seasons of Gilmore Girls and I get them third-hand from my other sister after she watches them. I got seasons 1 & 2 from her Friday night and spent the majority of yesterday relaxing in the cool downstairs watching too much TV. I think all of my dreams last night somehow or another came back to relate to Gilmore Girls. Kinda sad.

Sunday is NOT my funday

I was lonely yesterday :( Andy went on a 2-day bike tour and left me and Lola home alone. I was okay on Saturday because Lola & I went out to Waconia to my mom & dad's house. I made 7 new decorative pillows for the house; re-covered the living room ones and made 3 new ones for the bed. Before I left my mom loaded me up with a ton more flowers & plants for our yard. I think I've been spending too much money on the yard, but it's so hard not to when there's so much to do! And it's my first yard so it's very exciting for me to be able to do what I (okay, WE!) want to it..you know..without first having to ASK or run the risk of being yelled at!

So then Sunday morning, sans Andy, I worked out in the yard planting everything and pulling stuff up and moving stuff around. I got quite a bit done, but it was COLD out which didn't make it much fun.

I like having a house of our own. It's fun. But the un-fun part came in the mail the other day--our first mortgage payment is due soon.......

working hard...really!

Last night I straightened up the mudroom and now it looks more like a mudroom that a room full of half-emptied boxes. Just need to hang some stuff on the walls and get/make some curtains too. It's kinda bare, but cute.

Last night I also finished planting the annuals that we bought on Monday night. We have tons of flower pots so I got a bunch of petunias, impatients, geraniums and pansies to fill them. Now we get to watch them grow! I can't wait until mid-summer when the vegetables start coming and the flowers are in full bloom. We also have 2 huge peoney bushes that are going to bloom any day now. They've grown probably twice their height since we moved in only 2.5 weeks ago. I'll definitely be taking photos of those since they're one of my faaaaaaaaaaavorite flowers :) Andy is still waiting on his window box of petunias he installed/planted to sprout. Hopefully this nice weather will stick around through the weekend so we can see some of that action--or at least something will be up when Andy returns from his weekend bike trip. Keep your fingers crossed people!

meh...

And now since Blogger is being a pain in my rear today, I'll post the other 2!
I would also like to take this time to say that the pillows that came with the couches are uuuuuuugly and will be re-covered. I have the fabric and will be doing that this coming weekend!

More Picture Pages!

We finally got the living room & kitchen squared away! The dining room still needs a new table & chairs, but it's not urgent. We also still have to hang stuff on the walls throughout, but here are some photos I took last night...

Picture Pages, Picture Pages

These are going to have to do for now; the rest of the house is waaaaay too messy/unorganized still to post...

"All" moved in

Well, we moved in that last weekend in April (in the rain, that didn't let up ALL weekend, nonetheless). Our new furniture came on Saturday morning and it looks awesome; it's so nice to finally have a place to sit down! We also bought a few large pieces of furniture from IKEA for the kitchen last week and pretty much have them all put together. We still have to bolt the pantry to the wall, so there's STILL nowhere to put our non-perishible food items. They're all kinda strewn about the kitchen. I'll be a happy camper when we get to that point of having everything organized. meh.

We also spent the majority of the weekend, since it was nice out, working on the yard. We (okay, Andy) mowed the lawn, which I think took a total of 1.8 minutes to do. My mom came over on Saturday afternoon with a bunch of perennials for our many garden areas. The previous owners left us with a ton of perennials and she had everything really squished together, so we had to transplant a few things. I took a bunch of photos, but left my memory card at home today, and since we don't have the internet at home yet, I won't be able to post until tomorrow. OH! Or maybe later tonight. I just remembered that we have Comcast coming tonight to hook us up! yesssssssssssss
